Road names alone are not enough on a motorway or dual carriageway. The direction of travel, nearest junction and any driver-location sign or emergency-area number help identify the correct carriageway and access route. Share those details only when it is safe to do so. In immediate danger, call 999 and follow emergency-service instructions first.
Tell the team whether the vehicle is in a service area, emergency area, hard shoulder or another location. If police or a road authority are already involved, say so before arranging an additional recovery. Do not put yourself at risk to take photos or find a marker.
The destination may be home, a garage or another agreed location. Tell us about passengers, pets, vehicle damage and anything affecting loading. Access restrictions and any instructions from the road authority need to be considered before a recovery plan is confirmed.
